Claire McKenzie-Sime is a mixed media artist known for her captivating and intricate works of art using pastel and textile mediums. Born and raised in Irvine, Scotland, Claire’s artistic journey has been a lifelong exploration of creativity and self-expression, with her formative years involving exploration of textile tailoring, dressmaking, pattern drafting and charcoal portraiture.
In order to decide upon her specialism, Claire undertook a B.A. Community Arts degree at the University of Strathclyde in 2000, which led her to strive to use arts therapeutically. During her career, Claire has delved into many uses for art within a therapeutic pathway and is currently engaged in certifying as a Sensory Integration Practitioner, which will enable her to invite sensory response through connecting with textiles, paint, pastel and other sensory input such as sound therapy.
Each piece in Claire’s collection is an attempt to capture a moment of light, movement or sound with her beautiful landscapes and has gained her recognition at various independent galleries, on-line platforms and exhibition spaces in Central Scotland.
